The new Landvetter Airport Bridge is an easily recognisable entrance to Gothenburg’s biggest airport, with an elliptical portal that enhances the feeling of being on your way. A gateway to West Sweden – and the rest of the world. We produced the structural design documentation.
The project in brief
The bridge is an important link to Airport City – the district now emerging between National Road 40 and the airport on both sides of the approach road to the terminal.
With gently rounded shapes and no load-bearing elements in the centre, the bridge also seems to hover above the road.
The materials are dominated by smooth, light concrete surfaces and black diabase from Skåne province – not only eye-catching but also long-term sustainable.
